How to make your mascara last the whole night long

We've all had that moment in the bathroom on a night out, your flawless smokey eye turned into a scary black smudge! Have no fear I'm here to give you a few tips on how to make sure your mascara lasts the whole night long.

First things first your makeup is an investment, and while there are a few things you can "cheap out on" there are a few things you should drop a little dough on, and if you're one of those people who can't leave the house without mascara on then this is definitely one of them. A decent mascara usually runs between $28-$31 depending on the brand and should be replaced at least every three months.

Another good investment would be a lash primer. Just like you have primers for your shadows and foundation, a lash primer will ensure that your mascara goes on and stays on throughout the day. It will also condition your lashes so they won't get dry and brittle from being coated in mascara everyday; you should see a difference in your lashes after a few weeks of treatment.

Keep in mind that your mascara is a liquid and if it's exposed to air then it will dry out rapidly. When digging out mascara, swirl the wand around the tube rather than pumping it in and out. This will prevent an excess of air getting into the tube and will make your mascara stay smooth longer, and prevent it from falling out of your lashes throughout the day.

Lastly, visit your local Beauty Boutique, Sephora, or Ulta and ask the cosmeticians for recommendations on their favorite mascaras! They're there for you so don't be shy!
